Default This one def has got me

Im clueless guys lol, anything would help!!!!
Well its on my 2000 Z28... 88k miles... only mods are deleted egr etc.... Ypipe, and bullet with turndown... the guy i bought the car from said he had the tranny built... which you can def tell... car shifts so awsome and is real firm, but it has always had a vibration also vibrates when in neutral... so I checked the converter bolts and one was broke and two were about backed all the way out, I tightend the two up for now until I get a stall for the car... PROBLEM IS: Sometimes when the car is drive for a little while then cut off and turned back on it sputters and what not when your driving it with verry little throttle but if you started to give it more it will start to act normal and do ok, while the problem is happening it shifts really weird sometimes kicks from drom 3rd back to 2nd when you bearly give it any gas... today the car has been doing it verry bad, it almost feels like the car is going to kill itself... But if the car is cooled off it is ok... TRansmission fluid is super clean and not low...

NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS OR ANYTHING... SO I dont know what it could be Im thinking it is the converter but I dont know!!!!!!

Do you have an aftermarket trans cooler? Sounds to me that when the trans gets hot dose not work right. Just a thought.

How does the trans fluid smell?

A lot of times my race car trans guy said if the converter is blown up/blowing up it will make the fluid smell like rotten eggs.

If it doesnt smell like eggs, does it smell burned at all?

You need to put lock tite on the converter bolts, BTW.

Well guys I changed all the 02's from my firehawk into it last night and still same thing drive it till it heats up for a min and it starts to do it... got up this morning to bring it to work and it did fine all the way because the car was not super hot But I went ahead and threw the snap-on scanner on it and it is showing 3 codes but the check engine light is not on and has never been on but here are the three codes...

P1122 TP Circuit Low Voltage
P1635 5V Reference Low Circuit 'A'
P1639 5V Reference 'B' Low or TCM A/D Fault

Thansk guys

So you're still missing one converter bolt?

first thing I'd say is get that bolt back into the converter. If everything else is in good mechanical shape I was thinking the trans tune might be a little off as I was reading it. I'm not sure about that tcm code, but if the traction control was acting up that might explain the unexplained shifting.

To me anyway it sounds like there is an aftermarket converter already in the car. My car used to do the same thing if I am understanding you correctly. When I was crusing (very light throttle) in OD at 45mph in the car it would surge a little. My tuner just raised the shift points and it is gone. That could be the problem. Good luck

Surging is usually a tuning problem. Having a hard shift specially out of an automatic does not necessarily means it was rebuilt, but a shift kit could have been installed that means a drop of the pan, change the valve body pack and off you go. If your experiencing drive train vibration my BEST advice to you is take it some where and have it looked at before it is too late. Specially if there is a bolt missing from the converter that in itself should be a very bright and big red flag.
