crank but no start!!!!!!!!!!!
ok heres my proplem... i have a swapped 5.3 into a 86 camaro. the motor and wiring harness and every connector is plugged up. i have no water pump or accessories on the front. i just wanted to see if it would crank and start.. it turns over fine and fires... then just dies on its own?? i have a 255 pump and speed inc. fuel pressure regulator. i can unplug the connector for the coils and spin it over a few times plug them back in and the motor will run longer??? im thinking its not getting fuel. another thing, im also using the computer out of the 2500 express van that came with the 5.3, the connectors were blue and green. when i recieved the new connectors for the ls1 99-02 camaro/trans am the connectors were blue and red. could this be my proplem???? also i have a few wires not connected the park/neutral switch and the brake switch but i wouldnt think thats what would cause it. and suggestions??????

The VATS system is probly not allowing it to run. You need to disable or defeat the VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System). A tuning program can do it in the PCM, or I think you can get a module to install inline with the key. You might be able to sweet talk a dealer into disabling it, or if someone near you with HP Tuners could do it.

I havent done it yet to mine, but if you look on the hptuners website there is info there on it. Or search this site too. I looked into it once, and I think its just a screen that states vehicle anti theft or VATS or something like that wording, and there is a check box that needs to be unchecked. Keep poking around, youll find it.

Ya, the VCM Editor is where to go for it. Once in there use the Help tool and search for VATS and you should find some info there.
I dont have much experience with this software, so I am just going by what I see when I open my program.
