Hmmm, I've been pondering a Sunoco hood for my car (99' Z28).... Is the cowl taller on the wide version compared to the regular one? I don't want a big cowl section on there. The pic of the wide one looked taller on your site, so I was curious.

The cowl is taller on the Wide version.

The wide version was based on the scoop we used on our extended hood - after we released it, we had a lot of interest in making the same scoop available on a bolt on hood - which is what we did:D

The height on the Wide is 4 1/2" at the front and 3" at the back, however...because of the slant of your fenders and windshield, once the hood is on the car...it does make the height 6" at the front, and of course tapers back down to about 3 1/2" so that you can see around it.

The Original Sunoco hoods are a little skinner and are only 3" in height, these do not taper back down towards the back since there are no visibility issues with a 3" hood.

I am getting LASEK tomorrow so that has taken from my car fund for the moment. :lol: But that price is really good! So I will have to see what I can work out. ;) Thanks for the feedback.

We actually just finished up a mold for a bolt on version...and was finishing up taking dimensions. We did a test fit and it looks and fits great on the car:D

This hood is rounded like our Sunoco, but has the ws6 style scoops made into it.
I'm not sure if we will do a 3" version of this hood, but I will pass the request along...but we do have another design in the works for the Firebirds as well - I can't give much away, but it is something completely different then what is out there now.

We rounded out the scoop so that it has the roundness of the sunoco hood while keeping the ws6 style scoops.

The price on the stock version bolt on would be $350.00.

If shipped, there is a crating charge of $20.00 added to the price of the hood, bringing the total here to $370.00.

Unfortunately hoods are too large dimensionally for shipping with ups and instead require shipping by truck freight.
Generally these charges are paid direct to the carrier upon arrival of the item.

To keep freight as little as possible, we recommend having the item deliver to either a business address or to pickup at the nearest freight terminal - which we can help locate for you.
Doing one of these 2 options will save you additional home delivery costs of about $70.00 that many carriers add onto the base price of freight.

Average freight to a business or terminal location is $90-110.00 to Texas, and between $160-180.00 to a home location.

I am really wanting to get the WS-9 Outlaw hood, but I really don't like the heat extractors. Is there any possibility of a hood such as this in the near future? I think it is damn hard to beat the looks of the stock WS-6 hood, but making it slightly taller somehow does the trick lol

Hi Justin.

I'm sorry but we don't have plans to produce a 3" ws6 hood without extractors.

We do however, offer a new version of our extended hood in a bolt on application - which is pictured above...
But I'm not sure if this is too tall for what you are looking for...as it is 4 1/2" in height.

We do have plans to produce another style hood for the firebirds in the very near future...but I cannot give much info about it at this point...but it will be very different then the hoods available out there at the current time.:D
I believe this hood will be around 3" in height.

whats the difference between Pin on and Bolt on hoods?
The pin on uses 4 pins to hold it on like on a drag car (which I think you have to purchase on the side) and the Bolt on uses your stock hood bolts to keep it in place.
With a pin on hood you can remove it completely from your car by just taking off the pins vs the bolt on you cant unless you remove the bolts everytime you want to take it off.
I personally ordered a bolt on hood.
