Should I change my oil?
Back in March I changed the oil in my car (in sig). I don't drive it very much anymore. I have put 350 miles on it since that time. My question is it has been 3 months since the oil change and do I need to change it again even though I haven't came anywhere close to the 3k mile mark. The car has in it royal purple 10-30 with a wix filter. Should I worry about the oil breaking down on me.

I would say no, imo the month timeline is more toward people who drive very short distances and heat cycles, and not letting the oil get to temp. With a high grade syn. oil i would say if just sitting not driven much maybe change once a year.

UUUMMM royal purple is actually purple. I am not real sure but I think it loses the purple color very quickly so that is probably not a method I can use. I guess I can change it to be a little safer every 6 months instead of only every 3k or once a year.

Thanks for your input guys. I am moving out soon so any money I can save will help. I feel alot better about not changing the oil now and I got nothing to worry about its a good feeling.

And when you change it in 9 mo, I would also recommend the 0W30 GC or Mobil 1. With the car sitting that much you need an oil that flows freely at start-up. The 0w30 oils will get to the top of your motor quicker and help prevent start-up wear.
