Default If I hit the rev limiter under boost will it blow?

I just got my custom turbo truck tuned today. The tuner told me if I hit the revlimiter under boost, it will cut fuel and prob blow the motor, is this true? If so how do I prevent this from happen?

I blew my motor hitting the rev limiter or at least that's the only reason I can think of that it blew. Boost was at 16psi with 100% meth still spraying when the fuel cut-off kicked in @7K due breaking traction. Cracked a cylinder. Don't know if hitting the rev limiter was the actual cause but im gonna raise the limiter past 7k in my new motor once it gets tuned.

Complete fuel shut off will not blow the motor, but cut the fuel and still spray meth--yeah that will create a super lean condition and could melt a piston.

it could cause some damage...to prevent it you need an ignition cut not a fuel cut...or put the limitor at like 7500 or so

Like stated above total fuel cut will not hurt it because the power will be gone instantly. If you are spraying a good amount of meth when it cuts the fuel then you will have troubles if it sprays enough to make hp still.

That is interesting. How much is "enough to make hp"? Say a single nozzle Alky Control kit for example? 80/20 mix.

Factory turbo cars have rev limiters and they don't blow the motor when you hit them. I have never heard of this before.Fact using a two step is common with turbo cars and it don't hurt anything.

haha, should have, was running about 85psi of fuel pressure.
ran 135mph at about 3700-3800lbs raceweight. was trying to get to 130mph, over shot it by 5.
those were with some 42lb injectors, got 96's now.

Nitrous usually you run a window switch so it dont' come on too low and don't spray into the limiter.

Yup, tell those fools that say they don't need no window switch, believe me I have seen a few...

Should have been running a window switch on the meth.

Another reason I don't run that crap.

As long as you are not using another fuel adder like a meth kit or anything else that is adding fuel like a wet nitrous kit than no you will not blow your motor by hitting the rev limiter. The factory computer cuts all fuel going in to each cylinder as necessary, not half or anything other amount so it will not run lean.

2-steps pull the spark out not the fuel.
