Modified spring perch needed for Hal struts/springs?

Modified spring perch needed for Hal struts/springs? Do I need to modify the spring perch for front Hal struts and springs? As far as I know, you only need to do this when using different springs other then the Hals with QA1 struts. Is this correct?

Thunder told me that you only need the modified spring perch if you plan on using the stock springs. If you use a lower spring such as Eibach or other, you do not need them.
