Aftermarket Headers and Y-Pipe Not Sealing
I've got headers and a y-pipe from LPP. The y-pipe is two piece and it is held together by band clamps. I've got exhaust leaks at all three clamp points. The clamps are as tight as I can get them and the pipes aren't in any sort of bind. What can I do to seal it up? I was thinking about using copper RTV or some other sort of gasket sealer that is used for high temperature points. What are my options?

Advance auto sells some "red tape" in the exhaust section that wraps around leaks and seals up with the exhaust heat. I bought some and was going to wrap my joints, then put the band clamp over it, but I havent used it yet cause it works by melting into an epoxy around the leaks from the exhaust heat, then hardens. I just dont know how easy this will be later on when im removing my exhaust for other work. Ive also been toying with the idea of cutting off all the joints and welding in flanges that will seal well and make removal a piece of cake

easy-seal stainless clamps. they wrap around the whole junction and tighten right around it. seal real nice. they use them on truck exhaust alot. They are lower profile and work great on my car. good luck!
