Default Anyone have a TR230 cam in the Dallas area?

Just curious...my car is much slower than it should be and everyone wants to point fingers at the tune. I have EFIlive and was wondering if there might be someone who would be willing to help out by letting me look at the car's tune in person or through email.

It won't be exactly the same since my cam is on a different lobe but they should be somewhat similar I would think being the same duration, lift, and lsa.

Or if anyone has any other ideas what would make a cammed ls1 dyno under 350rwhp with open exhaust and no misfires I'm all ears.

I would think that 2.25 would be a little small, but if the cut outs are open then that shouldnt be a problem. Personally Ive always had a low dyno car, but at the track it always ran very well. You do have more cam than Ive ever had though.

I'm only trapping 87mph in the 1/8th as well.

In a roll race from 50-120 my friend's T/A beat me by 3/4-1 car after he missed third and recovered real quick. His mods are: 2001 rebuilt stock engine with '98 cam, heads decked 10, long tubes, loudmouth with no tune. We weighed our cars about 30 minutes later and he weighed 3870 to my 3820 (his g/f was in the car).

I'd say something is wrong. I just can't find what...my fuel pressure is good, plugs look perfect, no smoking, all cylinders seem to be about equal in power, car gets 25mpg highway, and in general runs great other than minor intermittent idle problems and the being down on power.

Car dynoed 325rwhp/340tq on a dynojet before I installed the Fast 90/90. Dyno doesn't read low because I watched a 5.7 GTO M6 with headers and a lid put down 330-335hp right after me.

Believe me I can't wait to ditch the stall, but I want to go through the tranny at the same time as it has over 60k miles on it and keeps softening up on the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts due to some line pressure issue I can't figure out.

Bur right now I'm looking for a job, and have been for a while with not much luck. So I'm trying not to think about car related things that will cost me money when I seem to have some that should be fixable for free or cheap.

I just don't want to put a junk brand or used stall in a well used transmission and rip it apart and be without my car for several months or more. I want to wait until I'm financially stable and get a good brand stall and put it into a freshened up transmission.

PMed about your offer, I need an email address. Thanks very much, I really would appreciate as many opinions as possible.

Have you done a cylinder compression test?

When was the last time you changed spark plugs? Wires?

plugs and wires were new when the engine went in (about 25,000 miles ago, maybe more) but the plugs looked great when I checked them a week or 2 ago

haven't done a full compression test yet, did 3-4 that were easy to get to and they were all close to each other, around 185 IIRC

I did try to cylinder power balance test in EFI live where you can turn off injectors and look for a drop in rpm and compare that drop between cylinders and they were all very close to even

thanks for the ideas though, and next time I'm home not having to drive and get the headers hot I'll try to do a full compression test just in case

yeah you should definately be getting more than 350 to the wheels with the that setup...i have a TR230 with STOCK manifolds and just a ypipe and SLP factory exhaust and with the LS6 intake i dynoed 377/362 and now i have the BBK SSI which maybe adds 5 haha but yeah something is jacked with the tune or maybe try getting your exhaust a little bigger to 3 inch and see what happens.

that dyno was with open cutouts, one on each pipe a foot or less behind the collector of the header

I can tell the fast added some decent power, but damn...still makes me think something is up besides the ls1 intake that was on the car at the time, I had all the other mods minus the Fast90/90 and made 325rwhp/340rwtq

one thing I thought odd was the hp peaked earlier than i expected, it peaked and fell off at 5600rpm, it didn't peak at 6k+ and carry out to the mid 6ks like all the actual tr230 dyno sheets I've seen
