Default Any 6L80E news?

As the title suggests, has there been any recent news about people putting these in f-bodies yet? I'd be interested in this swap rather than another 4L60E.

I doubt it since the transmission control is separate on those units and I doubt anyone has been too enthusiastic about creating a mechanism to control it in an fbody. I would love to be wrong though, and would jump at the chance to put on in my Formula.

Progress on them is unusually slow. Transgo is trying to get an A6 C6 for testing now. Great trans though but it's gonna be a while. There are a few threads on CF if you want to search.

the TCM is in the trans right? I cant imagine why we couldnt just use that the way it comes and flash the PCM to a 6-speed (manual i guess) program.

This is a reply I got a few months ago from a shop that installed a 6L80E w/new LS2 crate, in a 2001 Chevy truck:

"Unfortunately the new A6 will only communicate and work properly with the later Gen-IV 58X reluctor engines. I don't have any way at this time, to use it with the earlier 24X engines."

Jayplay,

I am very interested in the 6l80 to put behind a modified LQ9 in a '69 Camaro. I know I will have to change the reluctor to a 58x. I had planned to rebuild it anyway. What is "CF"? I haven't been too successful finding swap info about this trans.

Thanks,

Dee

I was always under the impression that the trans physically would work but the tcm was an issue.

Is this still the case?

Only place I find much comment on these is on the truck forums but it seems pretty old..

I think I may get rid of my LQ9 (haven't started working on it yet) and buy a "matched" pair, maybe an L92/6L80e.
