So we can have up to 35% but no pass and driver front tints, when he signs it?

so 50% in the front and 35% in the back?

what are they going to do with people who have already had darker on the rears of their car? I mean, under previous law, you could spraypaint your rear window black if you wanted to.

I have 35%/20% sides/rear on mine, so at least maybe they won't look quite so hard anymore.

We can have 35% on the driver and passenger windows as long as the rear windows are tinted the same/darker.

Sweet. I've already got some precut tint in my basement that I need to put on sometime. 35% sides and 5% rear.

3x% all the way around looks nice, not sick, but who wants tint tickets. Most I ever had done is 20% all the way around and the cops noticed it.

So.... NO restrictions on back windows, 35% max on front windows? Forget the 50% nonsense, who the hell tints the front windows only??

BTW is it me, or did this bill go through entirely too much jibber-jabber so far?

immediately upon signature?

I doubt it, but here's to hoping!

from what i understand is that you can tint all the windows 35% or front 50% and back as dark as you want

Well I have my passenger and driver side tinted in my Cobalt and just got a tint ticket from Hometown PD. Did the Gov sign this already?

So, evidently in IL, as long as the governor does not veto it, regardless if he signs it, it will become a law after 60 days. June 26 + 60 days = August 25th should be interesting.

I'm willing to bet Torch'd only drives that car maybe once a month.

You wouldn't get 5 miles before a cop hit you with a ticket for having that kind of tint on a red car like that. It looks very nice though, and I'm sure it keeps the car cooler on those hot days.

I'm still not understanding the law. We only have 3 windows. The front windshield, the driver and passenger windows, and the giant vertical glass football field hatch window.

In plain english what wold be the max tint for each window?

Monello

35% side windows and w/e u want on the football field size window.

Put it this way guys, I am chicago p.d and if you guys have tints and I mean anyone has tints they get a ticket. IF we cant see in your car, you are getting a ticket. If your tints are able to let us see in without any problems you may or may not get off the hook.. If and only if your nice and I mean very pleasant person to deal with and you have tints, you will 95% of time get away with a slap on the wrist, no tickets or fines. Also any new car such as 05 and later are the only cars getting away with tints but only very high end luxury cars came with them from the factory. But even those people had their tints removed in the streets. IMO, just be pleasant and roll down both windows and dont give them shit about their job.

You can't.... The Illinois Vehicle Code (Chapter 11 specifically) allows Chicago to adopt ordinances in regards to the movement of vehicles and rules of the road. However, tinting is not a moving ordinance but an equipment ordinance (Chapter 12 of the Illinois Vehicle Code) thus Chicago is not exempt from the law. This information came from the Illinois State Police.

BUT today the Governor updated the language of the bill to make it strictly 50%
