Default what clutch...

Well I have searched but yielded no real answer. I have a 2003 Z06 with a mild cam, TEA ported stock heads, and headers, yadda yadda. The car only has 11k miles on it and it didnt start slipping until recently. during hard acceleration the 2-3 and 3-4th shift slips when I get back full on the accelerator the rpms continue to fall a little until they finally car and begin to accelerate again. The car makes 435whp and 402ft-lb... I will be swapping out the stock manifold for a fast here soon and prob swap the heads for some AFR 205's or something like it. I figure an overall power range of about 450-460whp and 420 ft-lb.

What are your clutch suggestions at this power level I will not have to be able to squat 1100lbs in order to engage/dis-engage the pedal? Clutch chatter is a pain so minimal chatter as well as good daily driveability as a lot of my around town time is spent in stop and go.

Thanks in advance,
J

I just picked up a SPEC super twin disk. I have not installed it just yet but will soon once my ls7 clutch gives out. I hear good things about RPS clutches also...

If your not going to run it hard at the track alot, an LS7 clutch would work great and have stock feel. Most of the other aftermarket clutches will have more pedal pressure, grab harder and might chatter some on break in, but will usually go away. SPEC, MONSTER, TEXTRALIA, RPS, etc.. are all good clutches if broken in correctly.

I am putting down 430/393 and I went with a Monster Stage 3. I have put about 1k miles on it now and still have some chatter. It is getting better but not gone yet. I think if I had to do it over I would have gone a different route. Stock feel and holds like a **** though.

my buddy just put in a Ram twin disk. Stock pedal feel, can slip the clutch and hardly any chatter. He is in the process of breaking it in.

If I had your setup I'd go with a Centerforce Dual friction clutch. I ran one on my old LS6 with a P1 Procharger and loved it! I'm currently running a Spec Twin which is a great clutch but I do miss my Centerforce by far.

Another vote for the Spec Twin. Mild pedal pressure, minimal chatter, and it will really take a beating.

I'm glad to hear that. I'm plaaning on installing it when I can get around to it. My ls7 clutch is still good but I'm sure at my hp levels it will not be long...

I just installed my second Ozz700 Z-grip after putting 50K miles and 70 or so ¼ mile passes on it with 6K rpm launches. It took everything I threw at it. The pedal is a little stiff and it likes to be engaged, but it clamps very well and performed flawlessly in my 444 rwhp heads/cam Z06. I never once experienced a soft pedal. I also just installed a Tick master and slave, and I really like the way the pedal feels now. It's a very precision, positive stroke. I would recommend that combination.
