01 z28 smog well heres the short story.. i have a 01 z28. 6 speed, yada yada, all stock other than a noisemaker catback, took it in today for a smog.. thinking ehh not a problem it will pass all day!, well i was very very wrong, heres what the test results say
%c02- 13.80- smog guy said should be between 14.50-15.50
HC (PPM)- 94- should be at no more than 51
NO (PPM) 546- max 419
so the tech said hes not gonna say my cats are bad.. but its a good possibility, but no engine light.. not running bad.. nothing, however i had like 4 gallons of leaded race gas i dumped into the tank with 9 gallons of 91.. would of caused anything? i ran it through 3 tanks of reg 91 before smog. so if whomever reads this an agrees that my cats are bad.. anyone have a stock ls1 y pipe layin around!?

My cats were bad but I got a engine code. I had changed all the 02 sensors before this and then check engine light came on. I took to chevy to fix since they had somewhat of a recall on the cats. Chevy wouldn't fix mine becasue I had a salvage title. I had them rebuilt for 600 bucks. So Id say if you dont have a code prob not cats.

ya thats what i dont understand.. something is up thought, when the car is cold and i take off for the first time it lean pops through 3rd gear regular driving when i shift.

im very aware of that... a dumbass drunk friend poored it in my tanke when i was in the house getting something to drink. if my 02 sensors were ruiing id get a check eng light

leaded gas kills CATS period...
i like how in your first post, you say that you poured in the leaded fuel, and then in a later post you change it to "your friend" poured it in when you werent looking lmao...
IMO run the tank close to dry and refuel with 91... reset the pcm and retest the car...it should clear up, unless the cats are bad already.

Maybe the Smog Guy is trying to screw you.
What kind of smog test did you take?
I take the OBD II test and it just reads the PCM to see if all the stuff is working right.

obd 2, and sniffer, i added another cat in the syste last night lol hopefully thatl work. im gonna try the old acetone trick and 100 octange an run the **** out of it before hand. will post results!
