Noise coming from the rearend
The best way I can describe the sound is it sounds like road noise from large tires. I'm guessing the bearings need to replaced? If so, does anyone know where I can get the bearings I need. Do local part stores carry them? Thanks for any advice and yes its the factory 10-bolt.

My car sounded the exact same way. It was the carrier bearings. I replaced them and the car was fine. If your car sounded like mine then you are probably ready to get it fixed. It gave me a headache lol.

I too Had a noise like that in my 2000 z28. Turned out to be a worn place on the axle, bearins looked fine. Did a quick fix with a repair bearing and noise went away. But really need to replace the axle. Have not found a place to pick one up without paying alot. Anyone know where to get parts like that?

Are there any "how to" write ups for an axle rebuild? Any experienced F-Body experts feel like making one!?
Also which kit? I need to do this too and Napa has several rear axle bearing kits

How do you diagnose which bearing it is? My noise happens when I make a right hand turn, not sure if that is the right hand side bearing or what. I thought it was my worn tires but it turns out it is not... Thanks for the help.

I thought my rearend noise was coming from worn tires cause the tires I had were, well they were past bald. I bought all new tires and the noise is still there, and its actually getting worse. It is this rythmic noise that i can hear over twenty and increases in frequency with speed.
