Default Is this a Problem-Cam Damage?

I recently purchased a new LS6 cam. I was inspecting the cam after taking it out of the cardboard tube and noticed some scuff marks on the front bearing journal. I also noticed what almost looks like a small area of porosity in another area on the same journal. I took a few shots to show these areas of concern. Do you think this cam is still useable? The packaging was not damaged but the cam was just slid in the cardboard tube, it was not wrapped in anything as I have seen with past cams I have purchased. Thanks for your input.

I purchased it from a GM parts dealer who is a sponsor on here. I really don't think it matters since this is an LS6 cam that was packaged in a GM box straight from GM. I doubt it was ever handled out of the box by the company I bought it from. These are the only marks I see on the cam. You would think it would have marks in other areas if it were dropped but who knows.

If it was just the spot in the top picture, I would use find sandpaper and wet sand that off....the mark in the bottom pic bothers me. I would NOT run that cam....call them up and try to email them pictures to try and get another one.

May it be ok? Possibly, who knows. I wouldnt want that banged up thing in my motor,IMO.

If you bought that knew I would send it back. Tell them to give you a new one. But do what you want it's your cam bearings.

I would send it back.

No reason to install a cam with damage, you're only asking for problems. And cam bearings are NOT fun to change.

I appreciate all the responses. I just wanted to make sure that I was not being too unreasonable about the damage. I always try to make sure I am not being unrealistic about the situation since I consider myself to be pretty ****. I ordered heads and cam and have had some issues with both. I always planned on keeping my 02 LE 35thSS stock and I am thinking this is a sign that I should stick to those plans.
