I'm confused. I thought the only way to get the halo headlights was via the RS package. I met someone who had a new 2SS camaro and it had the halo headlights, but the owner said it wasnt an RS. It didn't have RS badging, but then again, I thought the SS RS's didnt have RS badging, they just had a red SS badge in the grill instead (which this one had). Am I wrong here, or did the owner not know what he was talkin about?

Thats what I thought.. Ok, so back to the original question at hand.. Is it possible to get halo headlights and not be an RS package? I thought the only way to get halos was through the RS package. Is this correct?

Yep.

1. Get a non-RS SS.
2. Go buy RS headlights.
3. Install them.
4. ????
5. Profit! :D

LOL ok, I guess I should have been more specific and asked if its possible to get an SS with halos *from the factory* without the RS package :jest:

I think I get the drift tho. Sounds like I was correct. Thanks guys for clearing it up for me

Have you seen how much the RS headlights are from the GM parts catlog? They are $1200 for just the head lights. I forget the cost for the tail lights. Hopefully the price drops later.

They arent just plug and play between the cars. The dealers are discouraged from telling customers that it can even be done due to the difficulties of rewiring.

LOL, I really doubt its that hard. But then again I deal with wiring things everyday so for the avg guy it might be.

Anyone know what wiring needs to be done?

the bcm will probably need to be reprogrammed, to switch the DRL's from the low beams to the fog lamps...

$1200 isnt too bad. For comparison, new headlights for my Maxima ran $1500:(

I was excited when i first saw the halos on the Camaro at the SEMA show a few years back....i never expected them to make it to production. Similar to what many Maxima (and BMW) owners have been installing aftermarket for several years:) Needless to say, it was pretty tense to "bake" and disassemble brand new lights that cost so much! I imagine the wiring to install RS lights in an SS would be pretty straight forward.
