Isn't that the MTI C2 cam, I remember seeing someone with that cam in his sig. and he said he gained 52 rwhp from the cam only. He had all bolt ons and he was at 400rwhp. This is the cam I am keeping my eye on

How about ET's. When I had this cam in my car, it ran 11.33 @ 122+ mph.

ET's will work too

It is the C2 cam, but i believe that comp cams also makes a cam w/ the same specs. Is there any difference in the two cams other than brand?

The MTI C2 cam I got was actually a Lunati Billet cam Wayne said that they might have been going to a different suppier (comp maybe?), but that was back in July.

No it's not in waitng for my heads

While not a C2 my cam is a SRP 224 XE-R on a 113 LSA and it's very nicely mannered cam with tuning.

See sigs for mods

Car drives ok in a parking deck going up hill.

Average mpg 22
Best mpg 26 no long trips yet.

I got his exact cam (Comp). Tomorrow, I will get a full-on tune (dyno, LS1 Broadband Edit), and I will post the results.

I like the cam already! It lopes just enough to let you and someone next to you know that this is one pissed off LS1, yet, it's mild mannered with idling. If you are going to use your car for all out racing, then maybe go bigger. But if you're looking for a happy medium, you have found it.

I put in RGR stage 2 Heads with my 224. What my *** tells me is that this cam has a nice wide flat torque curve. You won't have to wait until 4000 rpm to feel it pull. I bet the dyno tomorrow tells me that my *** is dead nuts on this.

I will post tomorrow night if I'm not too drunk. Keep in mind I'm in S. Florida, which tends to suppress dyno numbers.

hey i got that cam when i had just Jet Hot LT's ORP and a Corsa Catback, Airlid, descreened MAF, 02 car so LS6 intake, i made 394 untuned 396 with a little timing added torque was 389 stock 10 bolt at time and stock clutch. now i have a moser 12 bolt 390 gears and a spec 3 so i probably lost 5-10 rwhp with the addition of that nothing heads wont make back up

Have a MTI C2 installed. Car surges a little and hunts for idle at stops, but after 50 miles driving, it smoothes out...Bumped up the idle to 850 and done!

Lopes enough to definitely feel it in the buttometer. Car moves and shakes a bit when idling, enough for anyone who's paying attention to know that they'd better not mess with you.

Tons of power starting around 2500 RPM and up.

Make sure you put good springs & retainers (I chose Manley springs & retainers) cuz even though .581 is not extreme, it's still not easy on the springs.

If high mileage on your car, consider swapping timing chain and oil pump while everything is off the car for the cam...

You'll like it!

Comp made my C2 and it was purchased from MTI on the end it reads C2+4.
I assume that it was 224 224 581 581 112 +4. Lunati might be building the cams for MTI now you never know bussiness is fierce. Who ever is cheaper to produce the same product. NVMYSS (Jeremy) made 417 rwhp after a tune at MTI stock heads FLP'z he's an M6 for now anyways.

my car will probably be JUST over the 40k mark when the cam goes in .... u think it'd be time to swap the chain and pump? Also, how much would a set of springs and containers run roughly? (general ballpark). Up until now i've been positive that i was going to have a shop put the cam in, but now i'm considering doing it myself and saving alot of money. How hard is a cam install? I did my headers myself, how much more harder/tedius(sp??) is the cam install?

Excellent write up. I was (am) looking at that very cam 224/224 .581/.581 112lsa by Comp Cams via LS1Speed.
Now I'm wondering if it's a big enough?

According to the write up it would be at the mid to upper range of AVERAGE... I don't want "average" I want a street pounding snake killing mean machine.

So that leads me to the next question...if a good set of heads are around $1,500, but you get the springs and retainers with them so the up cost is more like $1,300...how much more HP can you gain with a H/C package vs. just a cam swap? And what about the rockers? Do I need to upgrade them too or can I re-use the stock ones.

I'm sure glad I've got some time to figure all this out before I sign the check for all these go fast parts

If you can swing the heads at the same time you will save in the long run and it will run stronger with ported heads . My heads are ported local so they are not great at peak but my mid lift #'s are as good as most and my car hauls *** for a 3700+ lb car . It went 11.82 at the THunder shootout on Saterday . mph was 117.89 with a 1.71 60 ft on Nittos

This is a great cam! I had it in my Vette and with stock gears it is great because it makes as much torque as the larger cams and has power down low.
