I run small vacuum block. I port things off it, like the brake booster line, the lines for things like boost controllers, bov's, alky controllers etc....the last thing in the block is the boost gauge. If you get a leak anywhere in front of the boost gauge, its easier to see on the gauge. Sometimes a small change in the vacuum reading or boost responce or peak boost can indicate a possible leak somewhere. The more things you run, the more avaiable volum you need from the feed line and the block. The more volume you have the more sensitive the gauge the will be. The numbers dont change justthe way it responds to changes.

i was told, by my tuner, that the reading should be taken from the rear of the manifold. if it is taken from the front then the engine hasn't had the chance to "gobble up" the boost. the reading won't be a "true" reading of psi. i trust him.

What a load of *****.
Its quite common on many cars for there to be a takeoff mounted on the TB itself. Location on intake manifold itself is pretty irrelevant, as loing as its thereabouts.
Nothing particularly wrong with teeing into the booster line either though, it is after all attached to the intake manifold.

I wouldnt want to take any vacuum away from, or even create potential for leaks there on a part of your car as crucial as your brakes. Just my opinion, but I'd tap into any other source on the manifold other than the brake booster. Your car tho man, if you feel comfortable with it, have at it.
