Removal of Output Shaft Seal...????

Removal of Output Shaft Seal...???? How do I remove the Output shaft seal from the tranny without damaging the output shaft itself? I've read a couple threads on here that say's use a pry bar or a screwdriver to remove it and then other people saying not to use those tools cause they may damage the output shaft..!!! I have the tranny drop already And I don't really wanna take off the Rear housing to the shaft.!!
1) Is there a more better way to remove the seal without causing damage.!!
2) The seal I bought from the dealer was #24232324.. It looks much different than the original seal.!! It doesn't have the outer lip like the old one. Is the one I have the Right one? Have any of you had a problem with this seal?

I used a seal puller from autozone to remove that. Basically it looks like a very thin claw hammer, if you know what I mean.
I don't have the number on the seal. I got it form the dealer and it was expensive. It included the long outer lip.

You can use a basic flat head screw driver if you are careful. Get the blade in between the housing and the seal using a hammer to tap it in. Once its in there, twist it. You might have to do this in a few spots before it will come out. After that, you can reinstall the new seal. If you want an OEM, go to Chevy and buy it. I use basic old TH350/700R4 rear seals and they work just fine.

okay so i got the seal out.. piece of cake..!!! thanks the source work like a charm..!!! now I have another problem so I order the seal#24232324 and its much different than the original one.. I'll post pic to show the difference..!!

The new seals seems to fit and everything.. but I don't want to put it in unless its the right one.. Cuz I've heard of people installing new seals and ends up leaking a few months down the road..

It looks like the one has a dust cover and the other doesn't.
