Default WTH! CLutch engages in neutral?!

So, I had my car up in the air, parking brake off clutch disengaged with the car in neutral. Started it up to try and track down a leak...noticed the rear wheels started moving...how is the rear moving with the trans in neutral?

When I depressed the clutch they stopped moving, 02 ws6 t56..

weird.

Set the e brake. If the car tries to die, you have an issue inside the transmission. If it does not, don't worry about it.

What kind of issue? I manually held the passenger side axle from spinning and the engine reved down a bit but was then ok. This is after it had been unplugged from the battery for a few days so the pcv was still a bit wonky.

No worries then if you are able to do that.

that is normal. If you can stop the wheels without the car dying the clutch is not engaged, just freewheeling movement.

Basically it would mean something was trying to lock up inside the unit.

The clutch is engaged.....Any time the clutch pedal is not depressed the clutch is engaged, when in nutral the imput shaft of the trans is still being turned by the clutch since it is consatantly engaged (unless the pedal is depressed) the shaft is spinning and the collar that connects the input shaft to the output shaft (thats how u get the 1:1 ratio for 4th gear) is just rubbing a lil bit wich is normal causing the output shaft to turn...

I would expect the rear wheels to move a little bit. I know with my bike, up on a swingarm stand, with the bike in neutral the rear wheel will move ever so slowly. I think this goes for all vehicles.
