LT1 swap wiring tard.
Hey guys, how's it goin? This is my first post and as you can guess I'm a newb here and I'll probly be asking numerous questions regarding my swap.
I know this is LSX swaps but many of the same things apply to the forgottin LT1 as well.
Ok, here's the deal, I'm swappin an 97 LT1 into my 80 Firebird. The motor has been dropped in and all that's left is the wiring and the fuel system. Now the fuel system is pretty straight forward but the wiring is seeming to be more of a hassle than I originally thought. The majority of the sensors and the computer are hooked up, there's just a few little problems I'm running into. What is bothering me the most are the wires c100, c105, c210, c220, and c230.
I only have the engine harness, it appears these troublesome wires/plugs I speak of plug into a different harness or some other off location of some sort and they seem to be the life giver of the wiring harness, in other words if you can hook these up to the ignition and run them through a fuse box or something you should be able to give the harness life. Right?
I don't have anywhere to plug these up though.... it's time for some ingenuity....
My question is, what do I need to do with these 5 plugs? Now before anyone says, I didn't plan on getting an expensive painless wiring harness or get mine modified, I wanna try to figure things out myself and do it cheaply as possible. Of coarse I know if I did do that it would save me from a lot of trouble and time but unfortunately I'm a hardheaded cheapo that doesn't have any money.
I've been goin at it now for a few months and I'm just ready to get this deadgum bird back on the road again.
Any input would be gravely appreciated.
Another question is, what do I need to do as far as a fuse box goes?
I have one out of 1995 mustang GT that might work but who knows.
Thanks.
Josh

So no help for a poor wiring tard???
Come on, I know all of you don't buy a painless or get your harness modified.
All I really need to know is how to hook up the harness and get it working
without having to spend all that money on some custom mess.

Yea, I've checked out shoebox and Lt1swap, they have lots of info. I just find some of it a bit confusing.. especially those damn schematics and whatnot.
Shoebox helped me with figuring out which wires I need to keep and delete, now I just need to make everything work.

Ok now that I can see the pics..
The C-100 Connector has the Fan Relay wires like mentioned in the pic..they are the Blue and Green ones that are on the top side of the Connector.
Pretty much the general rule with all of this is to power the Pink and Orange ones in them C-100 and C-105 Connectors from the Fuse Box, ground the Black wires and run the rest to the proper signals/functions.

I appreciate the input merv.
So pretty much, there's not a whole lot of wires I have to hook up and run?
I looked up the harness connector faces and it would look like I would need to
hook up these:
Power feed from injector fuse #9
Power feed from actuators Fuse #2
Power feed from igntion Fuse #11
Power feed from injector Fuse #10
Serial data signal
Power feed from PCM BAT fuse to PCM
Power feed from PCM ignition Fuse #13
Diagnostic request signal (V8 VIN P)
Power feed from engine senor Fuse #10
Output field service enable
Does that sound about right because all the rest are traction control, air, transmission,
cooling fan, theft, and AC related and I'm not running with any of that or some of the factory parts.
I'm going with an aftermarket inline fuel pump that's gonna have an on and off switch,
so it will be separate from the harness.
I'm not going with F body fans, I'm gonna try to use a elec fan out of a 95 Mustang Gt,
and I might wire it in with the harness or just get a switch for it.

Yea..that looks like it pretty much.. I'd have to see a All Data Diagram to really be able to tell you what to do. Everyone of them that says Power Feed are ones that you need to put power too.
I suggest getting a LT1 Fuse Box and mounting it in the Car you are swapping into..then you can build it the way you want to and it will look clean. Try and get the whole Engine Compartment Harness and Fuse Box out of a mid 90's F-body, then strip it & re-wire it. That and the LT1 Box holds a good amount of stuff in it if need be.

Your a life or shall I say money saver merv.. you may have just saved me about 250-400$.
You have my thanks.
So pretty much, I need to get a hold of an F body fuse box and run my wires through it and wire them in with the ignition, then make sure I do all my grounds.
That's it???!
Hahaha, I feel like an ediot now.. but hey, I rather feel like an ediot and know how to do it then feel like an ediot an not ehh?
That's why I joined.
Thanks a bunch.
