Default Rear Shocks

Ok im removing my rear shocks as we speak. I took out the bottom bolt holding the shock in place but now i gotta remove the top bolt by the carpeting. I have a convertable and i no were the bolt is. My problem is the bolt i keep loosing it and its not going anywere because it looks like the actual top part of the shock needs to be held by pliers or something i tried that and it looks like its stripping. I have about 2 hours b4 it gets real dark so i need to get this done b4 work tomorrow so if someone can tell me how they did it i would really appreciate it. Thanks
