Default How to change torque arm bushing?

My torque arm bushing (back of the tranny) went out on me, so I bought a prothane bushing. I cant figure out how the hell to change it out though, as one the bolts holding the mount to the tailshaft is recessed into the clamshell that holds the bushing itself. Anyone got any tips?

So you've unbolted the clamshell right? That bolt is at the top.

If I remember correctly you'll have two others coming in from the opposite side of the tranny to remove to pull the whole assembly off of the transmission. Drill out the rivets on the old bushing and re-assemble.

What upper bolt are you talking about? The only bolts I saw are the ones going through the tailshaft. I got one of those bolts out but I cant get the other one out because it goes through the clamshell and it looks a bit impossible to fit a wrench in there. Any tips on how to go about pulling that off?

I think the one you are talking about actually is coming from the other side of the tranny.

One bolt opens the clamshell, the others attach to the tranny....the one that looks like it has no bolt head on it bolts from the passenger side. There is some bracketry that comes off first to get to those bolts from the passenger side.

Here...

Remove those nuts on the passenger side of the tranny and it will come out. It's also going to be a lot easier to just pull the torque arm out of the bushing once the clamshell is opened. There is 1 bolt at the topside that holds the clamshell closed. When I did mine...open clamshell, remove torque arm, pull out driver side of clamshell, remove other half from tranny. Then you can drill the old bushing out and replace.
