Default 188,xxx miles safe to build motor?

Alright my 1998 camaro was originally going up for sale but I found a way to keep it. the car has 188,xxx miles on it. Now its time to really start getting dirty and doing some serious modifications. What I think I want to do is either a LS6 intake or a FAST, Heads but if i do heads im going to have to change lifters and what not correct? Some sort of not sure on the specs, and possibly a nitrous system. The goal for this car is a street car that can lay some good times down at the track. Am i able to do this without building the bottom end of the motor, and what kind of heads and cam would I be looking at that could but down a respectable number. thanks for all the help.

Chris

I am not an expert, and hopefully some with more knowledge will jump in. But my two cents--1) You need to know whether or not your using nitrous, because you would choose different heads and cam depending on its use.
2) I personally would redue the bottom end with 180K and wanting any major upgrades.
3) If your keeping bottom end stock the LS6 intake is fine. If you plan on a major upgrades and more cubic inches then get the fast.
Good luck.
