Eastern Members - Anyone from Myrtle Beach or Virginia Beach?

As the title says, anyone frome Myrtle or Virginia Beach. IM moving to one of the two next year. My wonderlust has gotten the best of me and my dad has convinced me to go wild lol. After dad talking about how he is going to retire to one of these beaches and further discussing how much I always wanted to live on a beach Ive decided to try it for a while and see how I like it.

How is the cost of living there? Im sure I can get a decent job. I have worked for my dads HVAC/plumbing company since i was young, and do now as a HVAC tech and plumber. I was a sales specialist at Lowes and worked an HVAC supply house. To give some perspective though I made $14 an hour here at the supply house and was living pretty decent, had my own appartment and a new truck. Not making a killing but it was more than enough to get by comfortably. I have my car and motorcycle paid for so no car payments yet.

I have found apartments in the $600to$700 range. Is that about average? Living on the beach doesnt matter to me, Id rather live a little out and save some money. Any close towns to em that have a little lower cost to them?

And most importanly....how is the drag scene?!?! lol

Lived there for 10 years. Every single person there makes money from the gov'ment. Either navy, contractor, or welfare. F that place.

Those areas arent where you wanna go. The Wilmington NC area or south of Myrtle beach ie Murrells inlet.
Careful though there isnt shit for work in the south east now.

Good luck with a decent cost of living around here (VA Beach). It's not cheap anymore. I would not stay in any apartment around here for cheap, unless you really like the wild/scary scene.

Work is starting to get slow around here too. So I would make sure you have a job before coming this way, unless your dad will let you live with him.

Va Beach doesen't have any tracks close the two closest is nc and hampton both little over hour drive

Jobs are short here in Myrtle Beach although my dad's HVAC business and others seem to do pretty well year round between the heat and the businesses. We have a healthy group of enthusiasts in the area but it's not huge by any means. Check out www.streetlethalracing.com, it's a board for the Myrtle Beach peoples. We just had our local 1/8th track open back up though and it's getting stickier each week, plus there are two other tracks 1.5 hours away. If you don't mind people who can't drive, heat and lots of women this is the place to be lol

Im pretty sure it'll be ther Myrtle Beach area. Id like to live within 20 minutes of the town. As for the job my dad already knows a guy out there who would love an experienced plumber. And everything will be lined up before I go or it isnt happening. How far south is Muerrels Inlet?

As for those two appartments they are linked from the Myrtle Beach town website and are over looking a Golf Course and seem nice, but im sure I can find something cheaper out of town.

Small. He has 1 or 2 people that will work for him when needed but he can't find good regular help, which is bad because he just started picking Denny's on the other side of the state so he's here for 2 or 3 days then in Greenville 2 or 3 days, a lotta work for the old man lol
