Default sts owners please come inside....

anyone with a turbo system on your C5 (or C6) please let me pic your brains.

im thinking about trading my car for a 99 with a new built LS6 with forged internals (9.5cr, diamond pistons, scat h beam forged rods, turbo cam, lingenfelter ported heads assembled by texas speed) and the sts kit. its also got the snow meth maf controlled kit. the car has 83k on it and 12k on the motor.

id like to know if there are any issue with the kit. quality of fit and finish, quality of parts used in the kit. etc....

and does the IC cause any cooling issues due to the lack of air flow over the radiator.

any other issues please let me know. oh yeah, its going to be my daily driver...

Thanks

I used to have the STS kit on my 1998 T/A. Quality of the kit is pretty much determined by the installer. I know for the corvette STS kits they are twin turbo and the route of the piping is pretty effecient unlike the F-body's. The only issue that I have seen with other STS users is the oil pump. Has a limited life on it and is noisy. The Snow Meth kit is one of the best meth kits. There shouldn't be an issue with the intercooler interfering with the radiators ability to cool it wont cover it up completely. What are the specs on that boost cam? It's got a good CR on it so it should run well. Put it on 10 psi and see how it does. The twin turbo STS kits use quite smaller turbo's than the singles so the delayed spooling won't be as big a factor as with the F-body's. They work much better with automatic cars.

the cam is a comp custom grind.i dont remember the spec exactly but its like a 228/23? with a 120lsa. the lift was given in cam lift and i think i figured it to be only like 49?/501 with the 1.7s.

i have been reading about the oil pump and restrictors. im going to have to ask him about that situation. there has be guys change that stuff to fix their "over oiling" of the turbo problem...

thnx 4 the info....

I'm pretty sure that your lift will be more than that. The duration for that cam should be around 228/238...ish. The LSA is good on it. I will say this, There is nothing like the sound of an STS kit spooling up and taking off, its pretty damn loud, you'll love it. Just be ready to make adjustments, and spend cash on misc. stuff

well i just dont want it to be a money pit and a headache. ive already got a FI camaro that always needs attention. hopefully he has it pretty dialed in.

hes run it at a max boost of 13psi.
and the cam is a 228/232 289/296 120lsa. doesnt the lift with 1.7s equal 491/503?

and its going to be my daily driver. you think ill be having issues with that?

my CTSV is fast, fun and very reliable....

thanks,
Jeremy
