Default O2 sensor issues...question

I know I've gotten codes P0162 and P1416 before on the car, so I know I probably need new sensors, but would those going a bit haywire and off make my car feel completely gutless and like I'm driving a 4 cylinder??? I hammer on it on highways and it just feels like I'm free revving with little to know acceleration...wtf?

Thats exactly what failing 02 sensors do.

And stop stomping the gas pedal when its running like that. Misfires and stumbling can damage your engine at high rpm.s

New 02 sensors...$40.00....Densos.....www.rockauto.com

I'll probably go that route.

Failing 02 sensors won't show any codes or an SES light until they totally fail or until they are really making the engine run horribly.

And make sure you buy Densos. If you buy AC Delcos you will most likely get Densos in the box and pay double or triple. GM uses Densos now for their 02 sensors.

And Densos are a better 02 sensor than GM makes.

Yup my mix has been getting richer and richer as of late. My exhaust tips look like it's a diesel right now from being so pig rich.

Would the Denso's also be a good replacement for an LT1 car? I checked and they are indeed half what the delcos cost wich would be nice.

sorry to lol

If you have headers I would go with the Vettes O2 sensors.

no headers, but I still need to know if I can just use a regular wrench or if I need a special one.

One crescent wrench is all you need, they come out with ease.

And Vette 02 sensors are the Densos.

The open slits that the GM and Bosch 02 sensors use to capture exhaust as its flows over them is just about the dumbest design ever. Only 2-3 of the slits gets direct flow of exhaust right into them. The others get exhaust flowing over the remaining 3-4 slits and they don;t catch exhaust as it flows by.
The Densos have holes all oround the tip of the sensor, it catches alot more exhaust as it flows by, getting a more accurate sample.

Its just the way it should be made. Slits make no sense at all.

I bought a long 7/8 wrench from Advanced Auto to use on the driver side. It was a bit too tight over there to use a 02 sensor socket. Passenger side should be easy.

2344087

2344025

$39.xx each.

*** Just make sure you double check with them on the phone that the lengths are correct for which sensors you need, thats the only reason the part numbers are different.

ohh, ok, thanks for the info on the sensors. Are those other ones cheaper than the stock ones also?

Hell yeah. Densos are $40.00 each.

GM AC Delcos at the dealerships are as high as $150.00 each.

BUT...........GM now uses Densos as their own AC Delco sensors. If you go to any auto parts store or to the dealership and you buy AC Delso 02 sensors....you will open the AC Delco box and you will have Denso sensors in there.

This happened to me earlier this year at Bennett Auto. Opened the boxes at the counter and found Densos inside. I told the guy to go grab a box of Densos so I can look at them and the sensors were 100% identical in every way. But SCUMBAG "GM" was charging $130.00 per plug through Bennett. The Densos were like $60.00 each IIRC.

So of course I bought the Densos. And my friend who is a manager of a parts department at a Pontiac dealership confirmed that GM is using them now.

Densos are $39.xx each through www.rockauto.com GM is just a bunch of dirtbag rip-off artists. Thats why GM is going down the toilet, the entire company is **** and the people who work there are spoiled, over-paid cry babies. Bye-Bye GM.
