Talking Dyno Test: LSX-R 102mm FAST Intake on 100% STOCK LS7!

I had a fun day in the Texas heat today, swapping out my intake manifold just to get you all some actual results.

100% showroom stock 2009 Z06 (mine).

Before and after tests of the new FAST 102mm LSX-R intake manifold.

Just for fun, we also did before/after with the Killer Bee installed too.

http://www.planetlsx.com/news/Dyno_T...ke_Manifold/88

Whew!

I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Tony

Excellent A/B comparison Tony. I wonder, does that intake have some material that can be removed like the 78/90/92's did for porting?

Yes Josh, the FAST intake was designed for people to modify internally. The individual runners are even removable to cut and shorten, etc... Pretty trick piece.

Nice gains for being a bone stock car. I wonder why throwing a 90/90 on a ls1 won't yield those kind of results. Even with a cam on stock heads a 90/90 doesn't do much. Nice job on planetlsx.

OEM T-body, which is 90mm. We do not have a mechanical 102mm handy to test out, but we feel that upper rpm and peak hp would carry out more with one installed.

Great gains for just intake. Can only imagine how well it's going to respond to further modification with the lsx-r in place!

Nine, as a co-founder you have to be aware of the two other posts with this intake. One positive and one negative. The positive post was from a very reputable outfit, but was also selling these intakes. I still believed their results because of their credibility and reputation. I don't know much from the other tester, as far as reputation and cred. But their test was negative.

So you have two conflicting results. Now, you post up a good write up with graphs to back it up. I have read your posts on this forum and others and they seem knowledgeable and straightforward. So with that said, I would lean toward the FAST claims of improvement at the fly of 31hp and 26tq with this IM.

I had my LS7 manifold ported by a reputable porter but saw minimal gains. Now I'm considering this manifold as a viable option.
Thanks for the post.

Awesome gains, but it sure is ugly. I wish they just make them in black and leave off all the stupid writing.

We dyno tested the intake yesterday on a mostly stock car (Killer Bee as well) and saw the same gains!

Nice comparison and write up. That's some good unbiased information with graphs to back up the data.

I've seen a few drama-filled posts regarding the intake. I kind of hinted about that in my article. But, I've never been one to believe any internet hype until I've tested it for myself. I still think big camshafts suck, for example. That is based on my own testing and drivability requirements. Honestly, I didn't expect such impressive results on an intake manifold. Especially considering the car is completely stock otherwise. But, it was a valid test to help answer a valid question.

How does the LSX-R 102mm perform on a stock LS7?

Now we know

Our gains on the dyno support this as well.

It has the FAST potential. Can't wait to start seeing some results from well ported FAST setups

I have dealt with SDPC when I was building my LS7, good rep and cred and I trust your evaluations. I didn't see that post.

This is looking better, 3 positives to one neg.

Oh BTW Jason, how much coin is that shine job ?
My car is Hugger Orange and that looked similar.

Awesome... but here's the problem!

You don't want to know how much this costs.
