Default trans loses 3rd and o/d after 20 minutes of driving

Works great then all of a sudden 3rd and o/d stop working. i park the car for an hour or so, and drive around and works fine.

did you just add a converter, if so you could be setting off limp mode.

Sounds like 3-4 clutch packs are letting go, when the fluid heats up it thins out and won't hold enough pressure.

Tune it for the converter even if it worked fine for a year. I've heard that a bunch of times that a converter swap ran fine on a stock tune then a long time after had issues typical of a non tuned high stall set up. And was cured by tuning only.

Who did your tune?

Think, think real hard........maf code----speed density.

Did the infamous trans fryer do your tune? I'm curious to know.

Is it a total fail, or just excess slippage (like maybe
the TCC refuses to lock, on an immature P1870
slip code that resets every key-on)? May need
to fix the TCC PWM settings to get "slip learning"
out of the picture and give it enough pressure to
work, or even bump base pressure (had to, on my
TCI 3000).

A bogus airflow goes to bogus trans delivered torque
goes to line pressure which could further aggravate
the situation.

Thats why if you run SD you tune for SD, and if you use a 3800 converter you tune for a 3800 converter.
