They will go fine with 273s but it would be pointless to go back to them since you have 342s, your gears will really tighten the converter up and help with driveability. Good Luck man

I have a ST-3500 with 2.73's and I love it. It is far from too loose on the street. I have cut a best of a 1.76 60' with this setup and that was on BFG's

I have a simular set up... I have a Vig3600 and 3.42's 
I ran this TC with 2.73's for awhile and I can definatly tell you that the 3.42's help you out with drivability
