Is it possible to bore and stroke an LR4 out of an 06 silverado and basically turn it into a 6.0L(LQ4) using a stock LQ4 rotating assemble? I found one (an LR4) in a junkyard that I can pick up for a hundred bucks. The 4.8 just isn't going to be enough for my intended use but it is too good of a deal to pass up.Thoughts?

I'm not 100% sure, but I dont think you can bore it out to a 364.

There is also a 5.3 I may be able to snag for cheap due to the block being broken. Could I basically swap all of the 5.3 guts into the 4.8 block, I know the 5.3 is a stroker version of the 4.8, but to be honest I do not know what that means as far as physical differences within the engine (yes I know the piston travels further up and down, 9mm by what I have found in online research)

Well I was able to answer my own question, I know most of you are car guys but there is an excellent tech series on LS (GenIII/IV) series engines on pirate4x4.com, according to the article, the largest you can safely bore a 5.3/4.8 is a 5.7L and the guts are swapable, the heads are even the same, dished pistons where used to lower the compression in the 5.3(stroker).

You can build an iorn block LS1 out of a 4.8 5.3 no problem. If that is not enough throw a stroker crank in there

What all would be different between an iron block LS1, and just boring the block out to a 5.7? (There is a reason this is in the noob forum)
