Default Non Electric Th700R4: Can I make it work with a LS1 ECM?

Hi there, first time poster.

I own a 1986 IROC Camaro, and I was considering dropping a LS1 in to replace my old and tired 305 TPI.

I just purchased a Built up Th700R4 transmission. Because my Camaro is an earlier model, it's an old non electronic transmission. I've read that the GM 4l60E is just a Th700R4 with electronic controls (or just a re-named version of the later year 700r4s).

I'm assuming it would all bolt up ok. Does anyone have any more information?

Also, does anyone sell a kit for something like this? (Something to attach the TV cable to the throttle linkage) so I could use my non-electrically controlled transmission with an LS1?

Would I just need to use LS1 EDIT or some other type of ecm editing program to omit the electronic transmission controls, so the ECM doesn't give me an error, or any problems from doing this?

Sorry, quite a few questions. If anyone has done this, or has any information, please let me know.

Thank you!

All you need to do is have your pcm tuned and have the automatic program deleted or buy a 6 speed pcm.... or at least thats what I was told.

Thanks for the reply!

Do you know how I could hook up my TV cable to the throttle body, or know of anyone who makes a bracket, or kit for me to do this?

Christos,

here a link to our forum on conversion stuff

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-swaps-28/

I'm planning a similar swap LS1/4L60e for my 91RS.

Speartech a board sponsor that mods the conversion forum has done several.

Should find lots of good info here
