Default ?Rear Mount Turbo? Help

I have a 98 SS A4. I recently had an STS turbo kit installed. It's a 60mm turbo and I'm running 6psi. It was dyno tuned and made 396rwhp and 423rwtq. I took it to the local 1/8mile track and it ran 9.1's. I was disappointed to say the least. The car stock was running 9 flat. I'm no meachanic so I don't know why it would do this, so any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Boost leaks. Hotside leaks could also do it, but my bet is on the cold-side piping.

What was the trap speed? If the trap speed increased but the car now has traction problems that could be your problem.

It was around 79-80mph which is what it was doing stock. But I do know it isn't a traction problem because I was running on Mickey Thompson Street Radials.

Is there any way to check for this?

Buy PVC encaps that match the size of your pipes. Install an air fitting in the endcap. Use something to couple the PVC cap to your pipe, then pressurize the pipe. Smoke helps, but you may be able to hear a leak without it.

Even your dyno number sounds a little low, but I would boost test it first and see what you come up with. Do you notice anything different with the car this time at the track vs when it was stock? How it launches, 60's ect.

That power number seems low for 6psi. What is your AFR, timing, is it intercooled? justseems like you should be in the 425hp range to me.

up-grade your fuel pump, injectors, valve springs, rockers, LEP custom turbo cam, and exhaust wrap will put you at about 500 to the wheel with a good tune and 91oct. fuel

well ,what I was trying to get at with driveability and also the HP number, sounds like he might be slipping the old 4l60 or blowing through an old converter. Have you changed or upgraded anything in your driveline?

P.S, where are you at in NC, and what track?

Heres a picture of the dyno chart

It does have an intercooler and a trans cooler on it as well, but thats about it. The car pretty much feels the same as stock from a launch. It's like the turbo really dosn't even make a difference until you get past 60mph. I'm sure it would help my 1/4 mile time. But I've never ran it on a 1/4.

I talked to the guy today that done the tuning for me and I'm gonna take it back to him next week. He's gonna check it out for me, and probly put it back on the dyno again.

dual valvesprings and hardened pushrods should be in your future. See if those changes improve anything, as they should help out the stock motor quite a bit
