After hard acceleration RPM, dont want to go down
Hello everybody.
I just bought a 2006 cts-v. And after hard acceleration especially in 1 st gear only, when i push on the clutch and brake, to decelerate, the RPM still very high, like 2500- 3000, it takes few seconds to came back to idle. I would like to know if somebody have any clue of this problem ??
THANKS A LOT !!

The flywheel on these cars is VERY heavy, once it gets spinning fast it takes a long time for it to slow down. But that might not be your only problem. I am not sure about the 2006 but the early years had a problem with their clutch springs and the clutch would not fully engage in high RPM ranges.

Either leave it in first gear when you decel or shift to second, and after letting out clutch roll out of throttle and begin braking.
My car does this as well, but its not a few seconds more like 3/4 to 1 second.
Might be the extra rotating mass or just the nature of a fly by wire system. Maybe someone with a lighter flywheel can chime in on this.
Its just one of those things you learn to drive around.

Thanks to everybody, i'm already less anxious about this problems, because few of you already heard about it.
The car still under warranty, so, for sure i will send it to the dealer, but i according more importance to the opinion of guys who have the same car, than the dealer near my home who sale only two, in their all business life.
I use to surf on different car model forum, to help me make the right car choice, and for myself and my budget i dont think i can get a better car.
So thank to your response and all the previous topics who help me choosing the CTS-V,I love it so much, and more everyday.
THANKS
Thanks again everybody

i dont like the drive by wire systems. i think that causes a lot of little weird stuff like that.
i dont think that the computer and little motors (TB) are fast enough yet......

It is the heavy flywheel... well part of it. It's also the PCM and your driving style... after a couple weeks very easy driving it will RPM hover like that.
I know because it does it to me in the spring... after I've been driving like an old lady in the winter... nothing over 3500rpm and ultra slow shifts... when spring breaks and I start to stomp on it again.. it RPM hovers for a little while.
It's not weather related either... when my clutch started going I started shifting ultra slow to save the trans... and sure enough a couple weeks later it started to RPM hover again... the computer has a general learning curve.
Also the TB sticking post could also be valid..

I was getting some throttle hanging as I said before. I originally thought it was the Jantzer ported TB, but yesterday I cleaned my K&N and like I always do I went out for some WOT runs and then came back and cleaned my MAF with CRC MAF cleaner. I honestly think it helped and I haven't gotten any throttle hanging since then.
