What do yall think about my 4.10's?
Hey guys i recentley just bought motive 4.10 gears, and just havent got around to installing them yet. In the mean time alot of people have tried talkin me out of installing them. Some say it kills top end, and some say first gear is almost useless. But then others say 4.10's help tremendously. My mods are cam and exhaust and its a m6, should i stay with stock gears and sale the 4.10s and put towards other mods, or install them? Any opinions please.

i am awiting the installation of my 4.11's also... i have a major bogging problem at the track that is killing me, because of the cam though... im not sure much of ls1's but im sure that at the track it will make a world of a difference, if you can hook.

4.10
I've got 98 TA with cam, headers, exhaust, etc. It has the 4.10 gears and 6spd. The car does have drag radials, but it is a freakin beast on takeoff...I can burn the tires all the way through 3rd when I get on it, but it literally launches and never looks back! Plus, with that tall 6th gear, gas mileage isn't all that awful when I'm just cruising around. I actually just got some upgrade gears and are going with 4.10's again. Install em and have fun!!

does anyone know if 410's would be ideal for say a ls7 440 stroker 600rwhp? i wonder how bad traction issues would be on 15x10 on mt radials? anyone? or is it worth it to back off a little because of too much traction issues say 389's? im thinking shift points would be at 7k. now that i think about it i would have to do at least 410's (for track use). (1 of 3 setups im thinking about)

I have 3.73's in my mild Bolton car, and I love them. Feels wayyy better than the stock 3.42's and I can actually use my OD gears. 50 in 5th I'm at about 1700. I'll be going 4.11s in the 12 bolt tho.

I have had 4.10s in my car (M6) for 3 years and have convinced alot of other M6 drivers to get them. I like them, my car does not lug itself in sixth like it used to. My speedo is off cause Im untuned but I think 80mph is like 2000 rpm in 6th.

I to have been debating between 3.73s and 4.10s. Seem to be getting differing opinions about the saftey of the 10 bolt and gears?? I am spraying but not in first gear.

The lower the gear ratio means a smaller diameter and fewer teeth on the pinion gear. This makes it easier to break it or strip teeth off of it. Especially in a stock 10 bolt.

I am looking into the motive 390 gears...gets you a little more RPM's buts let you have a first gear that is usefull from what I can gather. Anyone have any input?

To the op. 410's will work good with what you have, but you will be on borrowed time with the power your making, but worth the risk imo. I have the a setup close to yours and I can't imagine it without the gears. but with that said, i'm saving for a midwest 9" as we speak. Brian

Get the 4:10s and don't look back. I can drive around at 40mph in 6th gear if I want. Although, driving around in town with 4:10s when daily driving gets old pretty quick. It's a lot of shifting. I'm in 5th gear at 35 mph. If I stay in 4th gear I'm at 2k rpms and it's loud! That's the only downside for me. I love the gears.
