First gen V's ('04-'07) only came in manual, and no, no one has retrofit an auto b/c they wouldn't fit.

2nd Gen ('09+) have the option...

Sorry for bringing up an older thread, I'm still learning about these cars. 08' Yes/No on the Auto? It's a 2nd Gen, but you put 09'+

Thx

That's because I don't think they ever made an '08 V.

Sure they fit. Contact RPM Transmissions. The car needs to be an 06-07. Then you need to get the controller from John @ Speartech. They will do the swap and provide the trans. They told me that I cannot supply my own trans fro the swap.

Do they cut out the trans tunnel too?

No cutting necessary. There is a special tool made for that particular installation.

I thought that was a ford tool, not caddy.

You act like someone did this in a CTS-V before. Do you have any info on an actual swap in a V that was successful?

RPM will put an auto into anything that GM makes.

I'm having 07 z06 and putting an auto into it.

RPM and IPS Motorsports converted my 07 Z over to an automatic too. Best money I've ever spent!

the V is a bit different, it has been discussed already, until i see some pictures of an actual swap into a V everything above is BS to me.

Did you call RPM? I talked to them about a year and a half ago when I was going to buy a V so I don't rememebr the whole conversation. But they said they can do it and quoted a price. That's why in my post I said only an 06-07. I did not just make up the info.

No, I haven't called them because I haven't had any interest in doing a swap like this. I hope I didn't come off as an ass with my earlier statement, I'm just saying that people have attempted before and quit due to space limitations.

If RPM has done one for anyone, the customer wasn't interested in sharing what they had done. I do understand that not everyone takes their car builds to the internet.

Maybe I'll call them today just for the heck of it.

interesting... putting an auto in a CTS-V. :)

I just dont know why anyone would. :( It HAS TO be expensive (5-8k easy). Why not just buy a G8 GT?

Why not just leave the manual in? The car is SO much more fun that way. I am not arguing the performance factor, I just don't care if I'm a tenth faster and am just pointing the car in the right direction. I don't own a go cart for a reason...

No problem :) When I did speak with them they told me they have done an A4 conversion, that i remember. IIRC, the price was 5-6K, in that range including the trans.

Let's us know waht they say.

IMO, the reason to go for the V over the G8 is the NAV w 6cd. OTOH, the G8 has a stronger rear and a 6 speed already. But the V looks killer.

Just out of curiosity, have you done one already and how much is the cost?

I have not but we were the first to do a 4l80e in a C6Z06. It looks 100% stock. Ide deff be willing to do one. Not sure on cost at the moment.

To be honest I'm somewhat interested. I bet with the sale of my trans, shifter, etc the cost wouldn't be too terrible...I guess its the choice between a drag car or a road course/auto-x car..

big decision and an expensive one to do without being sure due to the fact its gonna require a lot of customizing that will be ahrd to reverse if you wanna go back to a 6speed. i like the idea and think the car would be a ton faster with an auto but just not as versatile.

BTW what kind of tranny would you put in it? 4l60e? th400? might as well build it before you put it in.

What about like an SMG type gearbox?
