Default Anyone using 4000+ stall on street? (Lock up)

Well Just sent off converter to TCI for stall adjustment to try and break 10's natural in street trim.
Current converter is 3-3500 street fighter.
Anyone using a higher stall on street? How bad is it?

Thanks for help.

I recently gave a detailed writeup of the drivability of my SS4000 in this forum. Take a look at it.

I'm using a yank pt4000 on my 422 that sees alot of street driving. I don't seem to notice any troubles with it. I never had another auto setup to compare it to though.

I've got a 4000 stall in my th-400 (non-lockup), and I don't find any problems with it's streetability, but my definition of streetable is totally diff than most, nothing really annoys me, I find it all fun!!!! The converter is a bit loose, but I like it, it feels good to me and doesn't bother me one bit, and this is my daily driver!!! Once you get it, you'll just get used to it, cuz it was definately a little weird for me at first, but now I love it!

I run a PT4400 on the street and it's fine. I do have 4.30 gears though. But I say go for it. Good luck!

I have a PT4200 with 3.23 gears. It's loose, but rarely bothers me.

It's nothin' really and when you see the times you are pulling at the track you wont even think about the way it drives on the street, a little LS1 Edit tuning can help drivability out quite a bit though.

3.73 gears and higher part throttle shift points help here. A quiet exhaust is a plus too.

Yeah, setting the part throttle shifts higher, tweaking the lockup points a bit, and running numerically higher gears go a LOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooong way towards making a loose converter more livable on the street.

"A quiet exhaust is a plus too."

Oh, no doubt. I have the stock muffler. I wouldn't like this stall with my old B&B Tri-flo. I used to have a TP4600 (ONE LOOSE BASTARD!) with that exhaust on my '00 and it was a pain to drive on a daily basis.

Yeah, that's my only complaint, my exhaust is loud as all hell, and it hurts my ears a bit on trips. But I found a fix for that: Ear plugs, hehe! Seriously, I bought reusable and washable ear plugs for long trips cuz my car is that loud and it was hurting my ears after 45 mins + of straight driving, but I love how it sounds, so i'm not quieting it down!

Thanks Guys,
Pewter Seems to have closest to what I am getting.
Pewter, you drive to track right?
So would you say to not be scared of the 4200?
I have heard great things about Yanks Tightness but I already had this one.

I drive to and from the track. No issues and hills aren't a problem. I wouldn't be afraid of it. A loud exhaust does get old quick though... I also have 3.73 gears so that makes the converter feel a little tighter. Traction is my only real problem.

Thanks Bud,
Well I have 3.73's as well, Mufflex with flomaster is pretty livable. I should install a manual lock switch as well for converter.
Traction is going to be my downfall right now to , 26 x 10 ET streets seen all they could handle - Should have went with the 11".

Dang. I just ordered the SS4000 and I have the loudmouth with LT's. I was also thinking of removing my cats. Hmm maybe they should stay in.

I'll sell you a set of used ET Drags. 26x10x15. There is still a lot of good rubber left. Even with my John Force burnouts

Well thats a possibility but I prefer a street tire, I would just run them all year but my rims are 16".
Though I plant to get some Convo Pros soon as money permits - hmmm could be never.
As far as converter, When they call and tell me they recieved I think I will tell them make it 4200 or maybe 4000..Just not sure.
Although 2002silver said that you have no problems with yours @ 4400.

I also wonder if I back timing off around part throttle/lower load areas to lessen torque if it will help the situation?
