Nice pass, is the mph a little lower than you expected?

Cars weighs 3985 with me in it so I dont guess so, clutch was hot. Puffed a couple of times. Stock air box, I imagine it will pick up with the CAI

That's pretty deep into the 12's - .3 or so of a second faster than what the mags were getting! I'd say stick some drag radials on that thing, but the 60' time wasn't too shabby. You can definitely pick up some mph in the future.
Are you happy with that time? I know I would be :D

Sweet, I love seeing these numbers drop as people who can drive run them down the track.

Nice launch, that is one of the best 60' times that I have seen-I assume you are still on stock tires?
Can you describe your launch technique?

all stock? any slips?

28 psi in the tires, got the tires hot in second, held them till they smoked pretty good and rolled out of the burn out. Traction off, launched at 4 grand and slipped the clutch. Clutch puffed a little bit. It bogged, then took off.

Car was on the stock tires, mods are a tune and a Magnaflow muffler. I put the muffler in place of the H-pipe and deleted the rear 2. Sounds exactly the same. I still have all 4 converters and 3 mufflers.
I say it's stock but others argue its not stock because its tuned and I have a muffler installed.:eyes: These dyno numbers were before the exhaust change.

Thats because it isnt stock.

I guess, I always pictured stock as being internaly parts being changed. Not adjusting the timing in the computer.

Very impressive times, I am really starting to like these cars. Maybe you'll pick up another tenth or two with a CAI, let us know how it works out:)

Stock is the car as it came from the factory. As soon as you do anything to it, it isnt stock.

Everyone does. Because someone is gonna say this bone stock car ran this time. Its not stock, it is slightly modded.
OrangeChevyII

Saying it's slightly modified is like saying it has a 3/4 RV cam.. lol
I hope to drop down in the 12.50 range with some better air. The DA was nearly 2700 and the temp was 86. The guy in Cordova had 60 degrees weather and 800 ft da. I cant wait for cooler weather.

Exactly! 5th Gens are awesome cars. Stock they are putting the 4th gen Camaros to shame with their 1/4 times and in the look department! No more catfish look! lol

Stock by definiton means as it came from the factory. As soon as anyone mods anything on a car, it isnt stock. Its not a "well i consider heads bolt on" kind of argument, stock means nothin changed.
I havnt dogged the numbers at all, I love them and I love 5th gens. I just pointed out that it isnt stock.

Woohoo stock vs not stock times again, man reminds me of the late 90's early 00's when everyone was going for the SI records, totally stock records & all of the other stuff. Some good argument material there.
Great times, can't wait to get my car. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how is that? the fastest recorded stock times are basically the same between the two cars. i believe at this point the new ss is a touch faster but it's not nearly enough to say it's putting an 11 year old car to shame.

How bout I interject this....just for the sake of controvery ;)
What if he only had the car tuned....Would that constitute stock? No tangible hard parts were installed, so aesthetically it was 100% intact from the factory.
Check out this thread and then decide....

More HP but still stock...

You cant pick and choose which mods are ok and which arent, it becomes too blurry. Stock is exactly the way it came from the factory, down to the tires, air filter, and tune.

We call that "showroom stock".
I always think of three definitions when I hear "stock"
1) "Showroom Stock" = right off the showroom floor. (might allow a tire change)
2) "Stock" = common bolt bolt-ons only (cat back, tune, cold air induction, etc)
2) "Stock, with the addition of" =stock longblock (usually when talking forced induction)

I am not sure how anyone can argue stock vs. not stock. Stock is the way it came from the factory. If your only mod is a K&N filter, your car is no longer stock. Yes, that is a VERY VERY VERY minor mod, but a mod nonetheless.
As we have seen new Camaros and G8s for example, even just a small mod like a tune might help a lot.

Six-speed running 12.7's with a tune and mufflers? Great time, man. That's one of the best near-stock times that I've noticed. :thumb:
I see mail-order tunes being more popular with this car than 4th gens; more like "chipping" the third gens.

The air was real bad the night we ran, real bad. The humidity was around 70 percent along with a near 2700 DA. That alone explains the low mph. The car made 390/393 to the wheels through the stock mufflers. I deleted the rear and put 1 single magnaflow muffler in place of the H-pipe.
Heading out to the track tomorrow night.

Just to set the record straight in the LSX world, here is how we have always defined mods since 1998. I should know, I used to break these records often and also maintained the old drag record listings.
Stock (also called showroom stock) = 100% as it came from the factory. ZERO mods.
Bolt-On (also called stock internal) = lightly modded. Tunes, exhaust, airbox, intake etc...
Cam-only = all bolt-on mods and a cam/springs swap. Unported heads, stock shortblock.
Highly modified = ported or aftermarket heads, built shortblocks, strokers etc..
Power Adder = turbos, nitrous, supercharger.
Your car is now in the "bolt-on" group, based on these definitions.

This is perfect. There can be only one definition of stock. Whether hardware or software, any touches take it out of the stock class. Still great times though.
