Default Heads

So I have 2 sets of heads one set off of a 01 and one set off of a 98 SS I will be shooting for the magic 500whp number and had some thoughts on heads, I am looking at cutting the heads for larger valves say 2.02 or 2.08 in 1.6 ex, then porting and decking the heads for higher compression. Has anyone done this and flow tested the heads against an after market head? I don't want to put a lot of time into doing this if it will not work for my set up. I can post up my cam specs when I get home if it makes a difference. I have to check but I think the compression right now is 10.5 or 10.75 with the stock heads on my bottom end. anyways looking for some sound advice.

I don't know if the stock heads will get you to 500 rwhp, they might I am not expert but I just don't see them getting you there.

You might want to check this out if 500 rwhp is your goal without Forced Induction or Nitrous.

I read that tread Im looking for some one that has done a lot of head work, its seems that patriot does similar work, so I figure why pay someone to do that when I can. If the castings just suck and its not possible I will just sell them ported no loss for me, and buy a good set of heads. I defiantly want to stay N/A I have a turbo car that I race and want this car because it has 4 seats and A/C for the wife and baby. I might go with NO2 latter but I want 500 rwhp before that.

yes the car has a 383 in it from Texas speed, it was ordered as a short block and my father in law and brother in law put the rest together before I bought the car. I have extra heads and block laying around so im going to fab up a sheet metal intake manifold, haven't decided on what TB to run yet I don't think the 80mm that is on it will be sufficient. Ive reading up on people with stock dissplacement making 500 horse power, so I think this should be easily doable with a 383ci.

Yeah I didn't notice you were using a 383, that will be much easier to get to 500 rwhp than stock.

Even with the most agressive build I think you will fall short. A GREAT set of worked 243's can do it but still tough.....

For the best results, I'd recommend the all new PRC 215cc aftermarket head! It's been making great power even with stock cubed engines (pretty close to 5000rwhp with high 230 intake duration camshafts), and should work very well with that 383! Give us a call or e-mail if we can help with your project

Are you talkin like T4P 243's? Id love to see some reults with those on a 383. Although I think Bret might just loose his mind if his heads wound up on a TSP block!

What is the difference between your 2.5 ls6 head and patriot's head?
