Default Im F*CKING stupid!

so, i did my clutch swap on saturday and had not a single problem. but when i filled my trans up and pulled my car off the lift i noticed a small puddle, so i put it back up in the air and noticed i was seaping fluid from a hairline crack below the drain plug, i overtightened it because i put it in with my impact i can't believe i was so dumb. so i covered it with some off brand jb weld while it was still seeping and now it still slowly seeps. i lifted the car again today and pulled the fill plug and i was still full enough on fluid that it would dribble out of the fill plug, but obviously i need to fix it. soo, next weekend im going to drain the fluid and use some alumaweld junk from the local welding shop. so will this hold? or do i need to find a new tailshaft housing? and how hard it is to swap just the rear housing? any info is greatly appriciated. thanks

he over tightened a bolt on the bell housing, luckily this can be heli coiled.

I wish you luck, maybe a good aluminum welder?

Wasn't it more of a pain to find a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter to use to put that plug in than it was to use a ratchet? Sucks man, easy way sometimes backfires. Hopefully that alumaweld stuff will fix it.

No too difficult in popping off tailhousing while tranny is still in car. Personally, I would locate someone that can weld aluminum around you, yank it off, clean it up for them REAL good, that way all they have to do is prep the material. You problay bring something covered in ATF and they probaly tell you to go home.
Reason I say weld it up is, that crack COULD turn ito a bigger crack, and cause a failure of some sort, and you not even know it...like crack opens up, you are on trip somewhere, fluid starts leaking out, and before you realize it, tranny is empty, and you lock the tranny up in teh middle of teh desert with no water, no food, snakes, serial killers, and we never hear from you again
On a serious note, I do vote to have it repaired correctly though. GL

(Oh yeah, try not use an impact for assmebly, except lugnuts )

I agree with Gen, have it welded up. JBWeld, and that type of thing hardly ever works for anything, especially with leaks.
