What to replace with the transmission off of the car??
had another post about "knock". turns out it is a cracked/broken flexplate (oil had no metal particles at all). So my friend who owns the car is taking it to get a new flexplate installed and get the rear main seal replaced.
Is there anything else he should ask the shop to replace with the trans off of the car (he is keeping the factory torque converter so besides that)?
btw the car is a 2002 z28 automatic. I have read the 01-02 flexplates are weaker than the 98-99 flexplates. should he ask the shop to install the older style flexplate so this doesn't happen again? (does not want to go aftermarket) thanks.

In my opinion putting another stock one in is a bad idea. Mine was cracked when i put my converter in, so i put a new stock 99 one in. 6,000 miles later i pulled the tranny again and it was cracked too. Get a hughes sfi for around 150 and be done with it. The fact of one coming through the floorboard just scares me. Stock ones are junk. Hope this helps
