Default Do I need c5 brake lines for my c5 z06 caliper brake swap onto my 99ta

Got calipers and brackets so wondering before I tear stuff apart will my 99 ta brake lines fit on the c5 z06 calipers. I actually have russells or earls stainless lines so not sure if they are longer or shorter than stock lines.
I want to keep stainless so would buy c5 stainless lines if they are compatible and necessary.

So what lines did you guys use for the swap?

be VERY careful with your line selection. ive gone through 3 sets trying to find something that fits correctly. when i originaly did the C5 conv, i used braided LS1 lines. personally, they seemed about an inch short. at full lock/drop, they seemed on the verge of pinching and snapping. i then got some generic "C5 lines" off ebay....4 lines, each about 14 inches long. obviously way too long. i had to ziptie the excess to the sway link to keep it from hitting the tire. i even tried LT1 lines, which were supposed to be longer. they are, but the fittings arent compatable with C5 calipers.

i eventually went back to the LS1 lines, figuring how many other people have used LS1 lines without issue. an autox and 2 track days latter, they having broken yet.

Hello
We always recommend to our customers when using the C5 kit to use 98-02 LS and 97-04 Corvette brake lines. And when using the LT brake lines they are close but about 1' short.
Hope that helps
Thanks

Umi are you talking running ls1 lines in back and c5 in front or that either ls or c5 lines will work . And I have aftermarket stainless russels or earls wonder if they are longer or shorter than stock lines.

the fittings are, but the part that connects to the car isnt. its the piece that connects to the hard line, on the body of the car. theres a clip that you slide the big fitting into, then push down another weird looking clamp to lock it in place. the LT1 fitting wont push fully into that clip, so you cant get the clamp down on it. it can work, but it wont be secured solidly to the car. its doable, but for safteys sake i went back to LS1 lines.

Yes I am talking about both! Either one will work. If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will be more than glad to help.
Thanks

I used my lt1 lines for the last 3-4k miles before the teardown. After the rebuild, I used a dremel to grind the side down on that little fitting and it fits fine now in the opening.

Bringing up an older thread here, but if I do the C5 conversion with LT1 lines, since I have an LT1 car, will the lines fit in to the clip?

it will work, i ran it that way and never had a problem. It's not an ideal fit, but I was comfortable with how I had mine setup. YMMV
