Pontiac GTO 2004-2006 - Can't do a burnout

Ok everyone, this might be an extremely dumb question but, I have to ask. I just bought an 06 GTO w/ an auto. If I stop and hit the gas, it'll blow the tires off. If I stop, push the brake and attempt to do a burnout, it just squats and sits there. Doesn't spin a lick. Do I just have bad ass brakes or is there something programmed in the computer like my Infinity had.

No, there is actually a problem with the car. I'm not exactly sure what it is, as I have an M6. But I have a good friend that has an auto that ran into the same problem. I'll forward him this message and have him explain what the fix is.

You have to take out the brake torque function inside the tune with HP Tuners. Or you can wire tie the second brake switch closed. It's a white switch mounted on the brake pedal. You have to wire tie the spring from expanding out when the pedal is pressed.

will the brake lights stay on then?

There is a switch by the brake light switch you have to tie wrap it. I think your cruise control won't work with the switch tie wrapped.

If brake light stays on, it's the other switch.

You have to tie the top switch up. There are 2, but if you do so cruise control won't work. Just get a line lock and the problem is solved.

Ive heard of this happening before... I know a bunch of guys who have A4 Goats and none of them have this problem.... Are you dropping it into 1st when you do this or are you leaving it in D???? When you drop it into 1st the car squats and your in launch mode pretty much. But I would still think if you mashed the accel i would burn rubber.... IDK

Like I said top switch will be the one. If I remember right this only effects the 06 goats that were built at the end of 05. The tsb I found on ls1gto.com said that the problem was in the ebcm. I had the ebcm replaced and the best I could do after that was 2500 rpms vs 1500 so I said screw it and bought a line lock.

Its something to do with the TM tune on the 06's. Easy fix though, just get it tuned out.

I had the same problem, dumbfounded us for months, finally we kinda stumbled on the solution while using hp tuners to put a street tune on the car. Im not exactly sure what was the solution, it had something to do with adding a traction control patch or something.
