Find somewhere that you can do some test hits and look at the marks on the pavement. If they are dark in the middle and light at the edges then reduce the pressure. If they are dark on the edges and light in the middle then add some pressure. You are looking for a nice even contact patch. Running really low pressure does nothing for a street tire.

id start at around 35psi and work your way down to 27 to 28psi if necessary but i wouldnt go any lower. I know its not the best time but i cut a 2.1 60' at 28 psi on street tires. People have told me that they get 1.8s -2.0s on street tires though.

i had street tires hook at 16 on the street, but it depends on the tire company and what type of street your on, asphalt, blacktop or just an old street

As mentioned, generally you don't want to drop much below 25 psi on a regular non-drag radial. My Goodyear GSC's worked best at 27 psi. Try the burnout technique in the 1st response, as every street tire is a little different.

FWIW my street tires on my 91Z hooked best at 21-22 psi. It all depends on the tire tho. Just start at whatever you normally drive them on the street at and work you way down like everyone is suggesting.
