Default quick question about rear

So of course my rear is making a screaming noise that sounds like bearings shot. So I was going to buy a rebuild kit but I was just wondering do I need new gears too? I have 4.10s that were probably put in 9K miles or less. I dont think my gears are grinding, it only makes noise when i'm pressing the gas, it is completely quiet when coasting. sorry if this is a dumb question. I have never had to fix a rear end before.

Were the gears quiet after they were installed? If so then they "should" be fine, im no expert but it sounds like a pinion bearing.

I don't know. I bought the car about 3K miles ago and he put the gears in. he said they were correct but I always had a little wind probably between 50-65 mph in the range. nothing huge. now it just screams from start to finish. dont know if its just always been a bearing or my gears were rubbing weird.

p.s. my names adam too! nice name. ha

I would rebuild it and leave the same gears in.

I would reccomend taking it to a shop to be honest. If you've never done it before and there may be something wrong but you're not sure, I would leave it to someone who knows what they are looking at.

Gears sound easy in principle, but a few thousandths of an inch can be the difference between a solid, quiet rear and a whiny, clunky rear that will chew up gears.
