Default Wat do you think of this setup i just purchased?

Just purchased my whole new H/C/I setup
PRC 220cc 5.3L Stage 2.5 CNC Ported Heads
Texas Speed 228R cam (228/228 .588/.588) 112 lobe seperation
4.475 Pushrods
Fast 90mm Intake
Nick Williams 90mm Ported TB

Got a hell of a deal on the whole setup, not exactly the cam i was wanting so i may end up putting something different in it

Anyone heard good or bad on this cam? Thoughout my searches ive found that its obviously not very big, but puts pretty good numbers and very streetable

Solid setup, will have an excellent power curve without leaving much of anything on the table imo when sacraficing nothing.

Very Good Setup I could imagine 410's hp to 420 Range. I would be very happy with it! What did you pay for it?

its not a small cam because of lift. duration is what makes a cam big or small. lift is how far they are opening. the real power comes from how long they are open (aka duration). nowadays, a 228 duration cam is considered on the smaller side, but def not just flat out small. i wouldnt put 430rwhp out of the question, depending on the tune. pretty decent budget combo, how much did you pay?

just did a quick search on youtube and found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2BU43PTpoA

through a stalled auto and an ls6 intake, he made 430/391. you have alot more air coming in and a six speed so you might see 440's, but well just have to wait and see.

If theyre used mods, how many miles on them? I wonder what would be the best CAM for those PRC 220 5.3L stg 2.5 heads?

Jesus. Good deal right there!

Have fun with it

Don't make the same mistake I did - Check your pushrod length before putting it all together

ha no big deal man. sounds like you got a good deal on the setup. id just give that cam a try and see how you like it. sure it wont make huge power like the bigger cams, but its not small, so itll make good power, be easy to tune, and driveability will be superb. if you test it out and dont like, step up, but for the deal you got, its worth sticking in it for a while.

^^Agreed! The 228R camshaft has nice gains at peak without sacrificing all your bottom end and mid-range power like the larger camshafts. It has nice street manners too so it's not a hassle to drive daily if you want or need to!
