Default Dumb question... (Zexel & Auburn gear sets the same?)

Looking at ordering some 4.10's for my stock rear. My local F-Body shop recommended the SLP/GM gears, but all the one I can find listed on slponline.com state they are for "Zexel/Torson" rears.

Is this what I'm looking for for my Auburn equipped Hawk?

Thanks much in advance!

TTT

Surely one of you "gearhead" types (pun intended) knows if the ring and pinion are the same part in both rear's?

You just need to know if you have a 2 or 3 series carrier. 3.23 and down (2.73 or 3.23) or a 3.42 and up. 2.73-3.23 is a 2 series carrier, 3.42 and up is a 3 series carrier. So the carrier is interchangeable based on the "series". What gears did you get stock?

Yes M6 = 3.42's. You need gears for the 3 series carrier.

3.23s are a 3 serries as well, the only 2 ser. is the 2.73s........they also make 3 serries gears for the 2 ser. carrier.

Thanks again, got my gears ordered, and was pleasantly surprised to find out SLP had the gears w/ installation kit on sale for the same price as just the gears usually are.

Sweet, can't complain there.

Thanks again and off to ask a suspension question

Watch out for the pinion seal that comes in the SLP install kit. It may be the wrong size (too small) for your 2002 yoke. I had to get a new GM pinion seal to fit properly. Hope this warning is not too late.
