Default trk manifold w/thumper cam LQ4

Going into a 71 chevelle w/ 4l80e combo. I realize that the trk intake runs out about 5500 rpm, Question is, will the comp cams thumper cam be a good fit for the lq4/auto. This is for a cruise/car show car NOT a race car. Im not lookin for the top notch in performance BUT again I don't want a dog either. I want this car to "sound" like a muscle car and run respectivly. I would like any input ideas.... Ive read and read about this AND used the search function also..

How bout a hot cam? They are not too much larger than a LS6 cam, make decent power and sound wicked with a nice exhaust. You can also have the truck intake ported to extend your upper rpm limit.

I thought the thumpr cams were designed for carbed motors? Which one were you looking at?

You could also get the 90mm LS2 trailblazer SS intake they come up on e-bay now and then and flow better above 5500 then the smaller truck intake.

As long as your not trying to keep and go too deep into the throttle, You should be ok... get a good tune... but as you already know.. RPM range is limited on the upper end. but those Truck intake to make a great low end torque monster.

But there are other manifold (LS1 are cheap, LS6 are the best bang for the buck)..

if you can cover up the truck intake.. these are not the best looking intake..

The comp cam thumper has more lift than the Hot cam and a 109 vs 110 lobe sep. so I thought it would be better... More thoughts?

the truck 90 mm intake will be a good addition and can use 90mm tb and is kind of like the ls6 version of the truck intakes.
i would go with a milled stock heads, thinner gaskets, and a LPE GT11 cam. for that excellent throttle response and of course uncapped exhaust will make even the stock cam sound like a muscle car. so put a c/o in your 3in. exhaust.

I wasn't wanting to change the manifold, $$ if I did, I'd just get the LS6 one.
I was wanting a cam to compliment the manifold...? anymore thoughts????

Hey fly I called TR today and said the best cam for the 6.0 is the mother thumper cam # 54-601-11. John over at TR has this cam for $599 with the comp cams springs # 26918-16 and the tr 7.4 pushrods. This would be all you need to make sure you have no issues with the swap. I am sure if you wanted to you can change the timing chain , retainers, rockers, lifters, and valve locks, but that just means more $$$$

looking at my dyno sheets, my truck intake and 75mm throttle body pulls fine to 6000 , doesnt drop off, just stays flat then.

Thanks guys.
LSX, what size nos do u use?
71 chevelle, I tried twice to get ahold of TR, left 2 messages w/ no answers. So they liked the "mother" thumper cam? Any reason why?

you can find the build for the motor here. I will posting pics of everything as I go along.

With the Zex system I had, I could jet up or down and it was 100 rwhp, hopefully the Brand X will be higher.

Thats funny that the truck intake flows that well. Or that the LS1 intake flows that poorly.

Ls1 has the high end gain and the truck has it in the low end. Our heavy cars need the low end hp/tq. That is why I when with a ported ls2 intake. Their is several threads on how a ported ls2 will have a gain of 5-7 hp over a stock fast intake.
