What would you say is the best lid for a 2000 WS6? Do they really perform that much differently? One of my buddies has a clear one that looks pretty sweet but idk how it compares performance wise.. ?

they are all pretty much the same. ive got the SLP lid, its fits fine, i think most people just dont know how to put them on. the one your buddy has is the MTI clear lid and i think they want out of business...

A lid is a lid, any aftermarket lid will be almost identical. SLP gets my vote though

if you do a search you'll find about 1000 threads about lids. It usaully ends up as a lid is a lid and there all about the same. I have an SLP lid and if fits great, I just had to get a blow dryer and heat up the opening to get the MAF to fit all the way in the lid. but otherwise it was a simple install.

Fast Toys makes a 85mm lid but i dont know if that matches up to a stock ls1 MAF.

They did do a test a couple of years ago in GMHTP where one did perform a little better than the others. I liked my SLP the best though. The fit was really good.

I have one that has LS1 on it so i don't know who makes it but it works very well. I also have a MTI clear lid that i used for shows that I'm selling .pm me if your interested

Whatever aftermarket lid you can get for the cheapest is the best one.
I'm very content with my SLP. +1 on using a blowdryer on it.

I have had 4 diff lids, MTI, FTP, TSP, and allways ended up putting my SLP back on. Glad I never got rid of it. Tabs don't break and it seals better than the others.

I love my SLP for a few reasons.

1) Fitment- I have put a few different ones on different cars and this one sealed the best, very tight!

2) Visual- I am a "Less is More" kinda guy and having a nice finish, black, smooth and just the SLP sticker on it makes a difference.

3) HP gains- As per GMHTP a few yrs ago, it showed to gain well, didnt cost too much and like said earlier, visually appealing.

And it seems like SLP's new version of their products might be getting a good rep.

get the SLP lid...simple install maybe 30 mins. good power from it and black always looks good with the stamped SLP symbol.... if you have the money i would save a get the flowpak from SLP, its got everything you need for a great CAI

Go with the SLP lid like everyone says. Its clean looking, good quality and fits with zero issues. No rubbing and no gaping holes. Cant go wrong. Look around you can find them for 89.99

I vote slp also. Seem to fit better than others. I used a dremel and sanding disk to clearance the inside of the lid where the maf goes. Some use a heat gun or hairdryer...
