Comp cams Thumper vs. XFI
Hey,
I plan on building an L33 for my next project.
Only a basic build, start with an L33, throw on an LS6 intake, headers and a cam. I want to keep stock reliability this time around.
I LOVE the sound of the thumper cams, (not "*****, or big *****", thats over kill) but is that ALL they are? Just the sound? or will they put out some decent numbers?
The XFI looks more performance oriented though.
Which is a better cam for the street/lapping days/autocross, low-mid RPM, up to 94 octane fuel, wont be driven in cold conditions (well below 10*c)... trying to cover all bases here.
The cams i'm referring to:
XFI:http://www.compperformancegroupstore...de=GEN3CAMSXFI
Thumper:http://www.compperformancegroupstore...GEN3CAMSThumpr
thanks,
Jeff

Out of those two I would use the XFI.
With a good tune and converter it should be real street friendly with the 113 LSA and the lower lifts will be better on valve springs.
I would recomend something in the 224/226 duration for your application. Maybe even a 228 if you wanna step it up a little but more. Check through the dyno section and search for those duration cams and check the power they are making.

this is going to be a 5 speed car if that makes a diffrence, also this is going to be a ~2700lb car.
Been doing alot of research, looks like the common thunder racing 224-112 cam is what i want.
