2009 G8 GXP T6060 6spd vs T-56 Question for shifter location
Hello everybody, can someone tell me if the shifter location is close to the same between those trans. Im doing a LSX Miata conversion and most people are using the T-56. Im wanting to go with either a 2005 GTO ls2 and T-56 trans or just started seeing some 2009 G-8 GXP Ls3 and T6060 trans. Differences between the two trans is what im not sure about.Kinda look the same except the shifter and maybe location. I know the T-56 will be close to center on the miatas old shifter hole but would need to be sure with the T6060. I really would like the T6060 to work as i understand it can take alot more torque. I dont want to cut up the trans tunnel hole just to fit a trans that i like..please help if you can.

I think from what i heard the t6060 is almost identical to the t-56 except the internals. With that said the G8 application will not work with my conversion with out tail shaft, shifter mods to make it work.I was thinking about a viper t-56 for the conversion.
what do you think, does the viper t-56 handle more torque than say a z28 t-56?

A Viper T56 will handle more torque simply because it has a larger output shaft and slightly stronger input shaft.
The TR6060 and T56 Magnum look a lot like the T56 but the internals are different.
